Scientific Overview
Epitalon, also known as Epithalon or AEDG peptide, is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the amino acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is commonly associated with research on pineal peptides, telomere biology, telomerase activity, cellular aging, and longevity-related signaling.
Telomeres are protective DNA-protein structures at the ends of chromosomes. Each cell division can shorten them. When telomeres become critically short, cells may lose the ability to divide properly and can enter senescence, alive but no longer functional or replicating normally. Telomere length and telomerase activity are major topics in aging biology.
Early cell-culture research reported that Epitalon induced telomerase activity and telomere elongation in human somatic cells. A 2025 study also reported that Epitalon increased telomere length in human cell lines through telomerase upregulation or alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) activity.
